The global geospatial community increasingly uses Enterprise Architect, the flagship UML modeling platform from Sparx Systems for the development of industry reference models and to enable data interoperability. ISO/TC211 has developed a range of new standards to promote geospatial interoperability, enabling spatial data and information to interact seamlessly with a diversity of services and business processes.
"As this is the fifteenth year and the thirtieth occasion that the ISO/TC 211 members have met for Plenary meetings, Sparx Systems is privileged to provide support for the ISO/TC 211 Interoperability Workshop and the important work of the committee at this anniversary meeting. This ongoing support serves as a basis for further collaboration with ISO/TC 211 including education outreach", said Ken Harkin, Business Development Manager at Sparx Systems.
Sparx Systems' support of the ISO/TC 211 at the international plenaries also ensures that the committee has improved access to Sparx Systems technology for standards development.
Rob Walker of the Association for Geographic Information (AGI), Chair of the organising committee for the meeting said: "We are extremely pleased with the support of Sparx Systems at our meeting in Southampton. These meetings of the ISO/TC 211 committee are important stages in the development process for international standards for interoperability of geospatial information, allowing information assets to be fully shared in new ways. Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect is instrumental to the work of the committee in this effort."

ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is the world's largest developer and publisher of International Standards.
ISO is a network of the national standards institutes of 157 countries, one member per country, with a Central Secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland, that coordinates the system. ISO is a non-governmental organization that forms a bridge between the public and private sectors. On the one hand, many of its member institutes are part of the governmental structure of their countries, or are mandated by their government. On the other hand, other members have their roots uniquely in the private sector, having been set up by national partnerships of industry associations.
Therefore, ISO enables a consensus to be reached on solutions that meet both the requirements of business and the broader needs of society.
