New OPEN MIND Dealers Offer Their Visions

OPEN MIND Technologies USA Inc provides sales and service of the high-performance hyperMILL® CAM software in North and South America. hyperMILL provides 2.5D, 3D, HSC, and 5-axis milling solutions, as well as hyperMILL millTURN® modules.

New Dealers Appointed
OPEN MIND seeks dealers that offer strong business approach and have a special purpose in their markets. OPEN MIND uses dealers to augment the existing direct sales and service efforts based in their Boston, Detroit, Chicago, and Los Angeles area offices. OPEN MIND has also recently made significant additions to their direct staff, to support increasing direct business and to provide value and resources to dealers and partners.

Recently, three new dealers have been appointed by OPEN MIND to service Quebec province, Canada's western provinces, and the south-central region of the USA. These dealers provide a brief introduction and market vision below.

Dealer Viewpoints
NexGen Manufacturing Systems, Inc., based in Louisville Kentucky, was founded by Charles Davis to sell, train and support Integrated CAM software in the South-Central United States.

Mr. Davis' twenty years of experience with stand-alone CAD/CAM software convinced him that Integrated CAM systems significantly improve CNC manufacturing efficiency. "Integrated CAM is a game changer for this industry", says Mr. Davis. "The advantages are overwhelming. Integrated CAM eliminates translation errors, gives manufacturing departments full knowledge of the design intent, associates tool paths with the CAD model and provides several other advantages. This new method of linking design and manufacturing significantly improves efficiency, reduces labor and errors, and streamlines the entire model-to-part process.

NexGen's territory includes Kentucky and Tennessee, and southern parts of Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. Their web site is

Solid Code Solutions, based in Vancouver Canada, represents, trains, and supports best-in-class CAM software tools from British Columbia to Manitoba.

Manufacturing is now globally competitive which increases demands for dynamic solutions that respond even faster to changes, find new ways to reduce costs, and continually improve quality and reduce mistakes.

While most understand the theoretical advantage of Integrated CAD/CAM, many companies are still sitting on the sidelines, perhaps unsure if the promise of a unified system has become a practical option. Such phrases like, "In a perfect world" are common when discussing Integrated CAD/CAM systems. Some are afraid to even look at anything other than their legacy stand-alone CAD/CAM system, reasoning that if it isn't broke, don't fix it. But in today's manufacturing environment, complacency does not mean standing still, it means falling behind.

Keith Clausen, founder of Solid Code Solutions, is a Journeyman Tool Maker with years of experience programming complex tools and molds with stand-alone CAD/CAM software. This background convinced him that a unified CAD/CAM solution would give manufacturers a significant competitive advantage.

After an exhaustive search and evaluating many solutions over two years, Keith chose to focus on systems operating in the venerable SolidWorks CAD platform. For CAM, he selected hyperMILL from Open Mind Technologies. Says Keith, "hyperMILL really proved to be the cream of the crop not just for its integration into SolidWorks, Inventor, and ProE, and its standalone versions, but for the very apparent thought and philosophy that goes into its development. "The breadth, capabilities and stability of hyperMILL's systems really stand out."

HM Technologies Inc services OPEN MIND products in Quebec and Canada's eastern provinces.

The Quebec economy has a very strong outlook, especially for high value products including aerospace, mold and medical industries. To compress cycle times, companies demand strong 2.5d, 3x and 5x milling cycles in one system. OPEN MIND's hyperMILL is one of the few solutions on the market today to be competitive in all classes of milling. With standalone solutions as well as direct integration into industry-leading CAD systems such as SolidWorks, Pro/Engineer and Inventor, companies are always working off the latest part models and receive instant feedback when engineering changes are made. hyperMILL combines high-end functionality with a short learning curve.

Jean-Marc Brunet, Sales and Marketing Director at HM Technologies adds "At HM Technologies, we offer turnkey solutions and services for CAD/CAM, postprocessors and machine tool simulation. Our company philosophy focuses on strong solution implementation and long term relationships with our valued customers. We are Montreal based and offer customer and technical services in both French and English languages."
