SAN FRANCISCO: Form4 Architecture—a design leader in creative, poetic, and empowering solutions for diverse clients including global innovators, municipalities, and institutions—promotes firm co-founder Paul Ferro to Chief Executive Officer (CEO).  A Principal within the firm, Ferro was previously Form4’s Chief Financial and Operating Officer.  He succeeds Robert Giannini, who served as Form4’s CEO since the company’s inception in 1998.  For more than 21 years, Giannini guided the firm with co-founders Ferro, John Marx, AIA, Chief Artistic Officer, and Partner James Tefend.  After working as an architect for 47 years, Giannini will become a Consulting Principal for Form4, focusing his efforts on the Entitlement Phase of projects.

“Working with Paul Ferro, I have seen his exceptional leadership skills and tireless dedication in action,” says Giannini.  “I am confident his direction for Form4 will take the firm to new heights.”

“Form4 has always measured our success by our contributions to design and society,” says Ferro, emphasizing the firm’s mission.  “The firm will continue to deliver striking projects by balancing expressive design, rigor, empathy, and sustainability to produce superlative results for our clients.”

A laureate, with his partners, of the 2017 American Prize for Architecture, Ferro designs and leads many of the firm’s high-profile Silicon Valley projects, including Workday’s HQ and campuses for Google.  His diverse design expertise ranges from commercial buildings and mixed-use developments to athletic facilities, churches, and multi-family residential.  Ferro strives to create spaces that are empowering and rational.  As a Principal at Form4, Ferro works with clients to identify their aspirations and values, then leads the design teams with a hands-on approach to ensure the final project exceeds client expectations.

Beginning his career in 1992 as a design intern at DES Architects + Engineers, Ferro rose to project designer during his tenure.  In 1997, he joined DGA (Dowler-Gruman Architects) as a project designer before co-founding Form4 in 1998.  Ferro received his Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley, and is a registered architect in the state of California.

Form4 Architecture believes in returning a sense of humanity to Modernism through emotional meaning and poetic design.  The award-winning firm specializes in creating environments—whether tech offices, mixed-use developments, educational facilities, or cultural institutions—that respond as equally to the environment of the site as they do to the people they serve.  Winner of the 2017 American Prize for Architecture, Form4 creates formal expressions that are emotionally resonant and conceptually thoughtful, as well as deeply extend the client’s values and goals.  As collaborative partners in the building process, the principals of Form4 Architecture—Paul Ferro, John Marx, AIA, James Tefend, and Colin Speer—are actively involved with every project from concept to completion, bringing the collective wealth of years of expertise and knowledge to each client’s vision.  Since 1998, the firm has built a rich portfolio of award-winning work for national and international clients within diverse market sectors.
