Visicon launches new BIM review and checking solution with free viewer option

Visicon Smart BIM Tools positioned to become day-to-day model interaction, coordination, and sharing solution for AEC practitioners, addressing need to quickly access, review, process and disseminate data embedded in 3D models.

New York, 15 April 2019 – Visicon Inc., the developer of practical BIM review and checking software announces the commercial release of its Visicon Smart BIM Tools (Visicon) v1.1. Visicon is available for immediate download at This new software is for AEC professionals that interact with BIM models and provides a convenient and fast option to view, merge, compare, markup, validate, measure and share model information.

Designed for fast work-in-progress tasks: Visicon is designed to be accessible, fast and easy to rely on for all of the quick decisions that need to be based on BIM data in real-time. Our solution is not intended to replace central, cloud-based project collaboration solutions that are efficient at storing and disseminating “published” project information. For each task or decision that is published to a central repository, many cycles of faster decision making happened. Our solution is positioned to speed up these work-in-progress tasks and the BIM requirements of anyone who is not tied into a cloud-based collaboration solution.

Transforming the industry: Our goal is to broaden the day-to-day use of BIM models by AEC professionals and make it more efficient for someone to work with a BIM model rather than 2D markups, as is still the norm. The same transformation that happened in the industry from paper-based markups to PDF-based markups will also happen to how the industry interacts with 3D models. Visicon’s focus is on supporting the bulk of someone’s project decisions that happen ad-hoc and are not published to a central project repository, if setup. It is still too cumbersome to dive into BIM models and access the data one needs using most of today’s BIM coordination tools. We want to change this.

Something for structural engineers: Structural engineers have been largely neglected when it comes to BIM, which is reflected in low adoption rates. To bring them into the fold and incentivize them to rely on BIM models more consistently, we have included specific functionality to address their needs. Visicon reads leading analysis software models (ETABS and ADAPT), models post-tensioning, and includes a tributary load takedown algorithm.

Priced for mass adoption: We don’t want initial purchase price or the burden of committing to a monthly subscription to hinder adoption and the broader use of BIM models. To that end, Visicon is priced at a simple $399* for a perpetual, single-user license.

Workflows supported: Visicon support a broad range of BIM coordination, data extraction and model validation functions.

  • Viewer – free viewer for Revit, IFC, ETABS, ADAPT and point cloud models
  • Graphics – best in class visualization & easy navigation
  • Portable – easily share small project files
  • Markup – markup and measure
  • Visualize data – visualize any model or external data
  • Coordinate – merge models and run automated checks
  • Validate – write rules to check for quality and consistency
  • Quantities – generate detailed and customized quantity reports
  • Change management – get instant graphical and tabular feedback on changes
  • BIM Tendons – display 3D BIM tendons and configure anchor placement
