The Wild 0.10 Allows Revit Users to Collaborate on Their Models in VR—Latest Beta Feature

The Wild now supports Revit Add-On, allowing popular BIM program direct path to innovative VR solution.

The Wild, a new and innovative virtual reality software we wrote about after they came out of stealth at AU 2018, has now announced this week a new Revit Add-On feature (still in beta) that will give Revit users a direct path to this innovative VR solution.

Revit Add-in (Beta) for The Wild VR Solution

The cloud-based immersive collaboration platform, The Wild, now supports designers and architects working in Autodesk Revit®, enabling them to send their BIM models directly into The Wild for collaboration.

“Since we announced The Wild we have been overwhelmed by requests for tight integration with Revit,” according to The Wild founder and CEO Gabe Paez. “Our Revit Add-In will streamline workflow for teams working in architecture, engineering, and construction by allowing them to import and automatically optimize their Revit model for streaming with one easy click”.

The new capability will automatically create a collection of assets from the components of the Revit file, streamlining the workflow from Revit to The Wild.

01 – A view of The Wild that importantly shows that multiple stakeholders can be immersed and collaborating and be at different scales from each other in the same immersive experience. One of the cool features of The Wild.

Collaborating on spatial designs in 2D in naturally problematic because not all professionals and clients are capable of understanding the spatial definitions and requirements of real buildings under design and construction. The Wild enables all project stakeholders to virtually inhabit a planned space as a team and collaborate and understand spatial designs together. With this latest release, Revit users can enjoy more effective communication, make more confident decisions, and better align teammates and expectations for the job.

“Streaming your Revit models into The Wild for presentation and review will fundamentally redefine expectations for the design process,” adds Paez. “Once we shift from visualizing ideas to experiencing them we can achieve new levels of comprehension and alignment, magnifying our capacity to find and focus on the best solutions in the earliest stages of design all the way through construction.”

Architosh Analysis and Commentary

We first saw The Wild at AU 2018 a few months ago. The company’s software immersive experience was impressive and different—everything from its avatars to its ability to model so easily with basic shapes. The Wild has chosen to begin with supporting extremely popular file formats (eg: SketchUp, Rhino) and open 3D formats like OBJ, FBX, etc.. Now with native Revit support users of that popular BIM platform do not have to go out through a supported open form like FBX or 3DS.
