TeleCommunication Systems and Iusacell Now Offering Location-Based Services to Millions of New Customers

ANNAPOLIS, MD -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Feb 14, 2011 -- TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS) (NASDAQ: TSYS), a world leader in highly reliable and secure mobile communication technology, today announced that Iusacell™, a leading provider of cellular services, is launching end-to-end TCS Location Based Services (LBS) in Mexico using Global System for Mobile (GSM) and High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) networks. Iusacell customers can now find and access location data about co-workers, local ATMs, restaurants, business-appointment venues and other points-of-interest directly from their mobile devices.

The TCS Location Products provide Iusacell customers the ability to manage who accesses their location data. Via the Web or directly on their handsets, users can set boundaries with respect to the hours that they can be reached, or which applications can locate them.

"We have a long track record of providing the very best in mobile communications services, and TCS' location-based services will only further enhance our reputation and brand," said Adrian Steckel CEO of Iusacell. "Iusacell business customers need LBS to improve the way they track inventories, find store locations and close deals. After the working day is done, they'll still turn to these services to find restaurants, movie theaters or simply meet up with friends and family."

TCS' Xypoint Location Platform (XLP) turnkey suite of products delivers state-of-the-art, end-to-end precise location using assisted GPS technology with rich fallback positioning methods when satellite visibility is not available. Iusacell has already been using TCS services for their CDMA network for more than four years.

"Iusacell's customers will have access to a wide selection of end-to-end location-based services to meet both personal and business needs," said Joe Hannan, group vice president of location products for TCS. "We support a variety of carrier business models. TCS delivers this technology as hosted and managed services, as well as through in-carrier-network deployments for operators around the world. TCS is dedicated to ensuring fast and cost-effective initiation of service for our customers. This relationship with Iusacell further underscores TCS as a global leader in 'one-stop shop' GSM solutions."

The TCS XLP suite is comprised of the following products for GSM carriers:

TCS, a pioneer developer of the world's first wireless location platform, offers complete end-to-end location-based services (LBS) that include branded and white-label navigation and finder applications, infrastructure, mapping, and content for leading consumer brands, content providers, voice service providers, OEMs, automotive customers and more than 60 mobile operators worldwide.
