Eagle Point Releases SMI Version 8 Field Surveying Products

Includes Data Collection, Construction, DOT and GPS/Robotics for the Windows Pocket and CE Devices Dubuque, Iowa—Eagle Point announces the release of its Version 8 SMI field surveying product line. This new release contains hundreds of enhancements from the prior 7.1p version. Some of the highlights include: Bluetooth support; addition of over 4000 geographic coordinates systems; support for Geoid 96/99/03 and Canada; improved drivers for Topcon GPS and SMI Flex GPS systems; SMI Transfer is now built-in to field devices enabling USB and wireless job transfers; 300+ new commands; RTK GPS under trees & RTG backup of RTK (requires SMI Flex GPS); intelligent touch screen buttons; new Windows interface; and a Note Sequencing routine. "For over 20 years, the SMI products have been the definitive tool for field productivity for both private and public surveyors," says Lance Andre, SMI Product Manager. "The Version 8 SMI product line builds on the most stable and trusted field platform and reiterates Eagle Point’s commitment to the surveying community through its new relationship model and SMI product line." Version 8 for SMI represents almost two years of user feedback relating to improvements in the Classic SMI interface running on various Windows Platforms. Included in the 300+ new commands is a complete set of HP 48 functions allowing for virtually 100% HP functionality.
