Autodesk Announces Autodesk Field Survey for Small to Medium-Sized Survey, Engineering, and Land Development Firms
March 5 Autodesk, Inc. announced Autodesk Field Survey, a full-featured, stand-alone land surveying package designed expressly for professionals in small to mid-sized surveying, engineering, and land development firms. Autodesk Field Survey combines the features and benefits of high-end survey software important to smaller shops and satellite offices into one specialized, affordable solution. The software gives professionals the ability to manage survey jobs from the earliest field measurements and calculations to review and all the way through to final presentation.
Land surveyors and mapping professionals have traditionally faced many challenges in finding stand-alone survey software with all the features they require. Available software packages typically have poor data integration, non-graphic interfaces, out-of-date editing tools, and lack Web capabilities. As a result, they've been forced to purchase expensive, high-end packages that include irrelevant functionality.
Autodesk Field Survey was built to solve many of these issues. Built around the AutoCAD 2000i Graphics Engine, Autodesk Field Survey is a comprehensive software package for meeting the needs of survey and design professionals for deed work, drafting and design, annotation, contouring and terrain modeling, read/write and data collection in a familiar and easy-to-use interface. The package gives users a wide array of essential functionality, data integration, and productivity tools, including the ability to operate natively in the widely accepted DWG data format. Autodesk Field Survey can also import and export data in LandXML, allowing users to easily share project data such as terrain models, road alignments, and point data with project team members using other software applications.
