Sense of Touch Enhances AutoCAD Software
March 5 Immersion Corp., pioneering the science of haptics to improve life and lifestyle through digital touch interaction technology, announced the availability of tactile feedback sensations in AutoCAD, the world's most popular PC-based design software program, produced by Autodesk. The new features are bundled with the Logitech Wingman Force Feedback Mouse, incorporating Immersion's TouchSense technology, and an AutoCAD extension that provides tactile feedback during CAD editing operations.
Previously, AutoCAD users had to rely completely on the sense of sight to meticulously construct and design a product. With the new AutoCAD extension, the process of drawing and creating is now enhanced with touch effects that give tactile confirmation to the user. All of these additions can make CAD software faster and more efficient. Other functions, like placing small objects in tight spots can be done more accurately, allowing the user to rely less heavily on his or her eyes.
